Qi Sha (七殺)

Qi Sha (七殺) is the general in the field — decisive, self-reliant, and most itself under conditions that would flatten softer stars. The name is alarming and the star is not, particularly; it is simply the most uncompromising of the fourteen.

Character

Qi Sha acts. Where other stars weigh, consult or wait, this one commits and deals with the consequences afterwards, and it has an unusual tolerance for consequences. Independence is not a preference here but a structural feature: Qi Sha would rather carry something alone than negotiate about how to carry it.

It performs conspicuously well in adversity. Charts with this star prominent often describe someone unremarkable in easy conditions who becomes formidable the moment something goes wrong, and the tradition treats a hard early life as almost a prerequisite for the star working properly.

The costs are volatility and isolation. Qi Sha lives with more upheaval than most — career changes, relocations, sharp reversals in both directions — and its self-sufficiency makes it slow to ask for help it could easily get. Classical texts pair it with 紫微 for a reason: the general does better with a sovereign to answer to than operating on its own authority.

Exalted in 丑 Chou, 寅 Yin, 辰 Chen, 未 Wei, 申 Shen, 酉 You, 戌 Xu — and never fallen anywhere on the wheel.

Qi Sha grades strongly almost everywhere, exalted across seven of the twelve branches and never falling below 平. This is characteristic — the star is rarely ineffective. What varies is not whether it acts but how much wreckage the action leaves.

Reading it by palace

In Life it is the decisive, independent, somewhat turbulent temperament. In Career it suits anything requiring nerve: enterprise, surgery, the military, high-risk trades. In Spouse it warns of a partnership between two people who both want the last word. In Health, watch for injury and acute rather than chronic complaints.

What it wants beside it

紫微七殺 is the classical resolution — authority giving the blade a direction — and is read far more favourably than Qi Sha standing alone. As one of 殺破狼 it is permanently triangulated with 破軍 and 貪狼, so any chart containing it contains an appetite for upheaval somewhere.
