Ju Men (巨門)

Ju Men (巨門) is the star of speech — argument, analysis, persuasion, and the trouble that comes with all three. It is the chart's mouth, and the tradition is candid that a mouth is useful and dangerous in roughly equal measure.

Character

Ju Men is questioning by default. It does not accept a claim because of who made it, notices the inconsistency others politely ignore, and says so. This is genuinely valuable — the star appears constantly in charts of lawyers, critics, teachers, researchers and anyone whose job is to interrogate something.

It is also verbally able in a way that is hard to miss. Ju Men explains well, argues well, and can hold a room. Where 太陽 gives out warmth, Ju Men gives out information, and it is often the star of the person everyone asks because they will actually give a straight answer.

The classical name for the difficulty is 是非 — right-and-wrong, meaning disputes, gossip and being talked about. Ju Men attracts friction because it creates it, usually by being accurate at an inconvenient moment. Charts weighted here often describe someone who was correct and paid for it.

Brightness across the twelve branches

Exalted in 寅 Yin, 卯 Mao, 申 Shen, 酉 You; fallen in 辰 Chen, 戌 Xu.

With 太陽 — the 巨日 pairing — the argumentativeness gains warmth and a public role, which is generally the best version of this star. Without light nearby, Ju Men's questioning tends inward and reads as suspicion rather than rigour.
